Week 39

Tennis Bento (Wibledon Men's Final 2012)

Problem: Game Federer - Murray was beautiful!
Cooking happened while Wimbledon closed the roof.

So far, so good.

But taking of pictures was not top priority... Result?
ONE! picture of an almost finished plate!

I served:
- "cabbage egg rolls" see small pictures on the bottom of this entry.
- good Italian pasta with good olive oil (from Morocco, gift form Jasna!), garlic and Fleur de Sel.
- fresh beans.
- squid filled with mushrooms.

Cabbage/shrimp/mushroom "egg rolls" were left over so I could get a decent photo at home later:

Cabbage blanched for a minute in boiling water. Shrimps out of the freezer. Tails removed. Mushrooms cut in quarters and cooked in water. Sprinkled with good balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, Celtic salt, black pepper (freshly ground) and lemon zest. Ingredients folded together like a Chinese spring roll!

Put in aluminum foil and cooked in water for a couple of minutes. Yumm!!!

Week 38

Bento for final day at Art Gallery "de Witte Slagerij".

Tomatoes from "Dirk's garden".

Tofu spread made with samphire. Love it! Especially with some mayo on toast! :-P

"Sushi" made with tofu, tomato and "nori" made out of aster leaves. "The most delicious snack of all". (If I may quote Hay).

"Sushi" made from samphire and tomatoes in an egg "nori". Very nice, if I may say so!

And of course: red wine!

Week 37

Beat Bento! (iso mo-Meat mo-Mento XD)

This is one of those "Bento's" that isn't really a bento. It is a lunch that I compose for myself at a place of work. I feel like eating meat. I feel like eating firy chilly. I feel like eating vegetables.

(It was the last day of work before my vacation).

But it COULD have been a bento and I must say: the combination is quite lovely (on any day I presume) but on THAT day: it was HEAVEN.

Week 36

To stay in Home Bento

(Like, I don't wanna leave the house...
but eat a decent meal anyway... what do I have in the cupboard?)

This Bento was made to stay in home. It contains:
Cooked white rice, tofu meatballs (cut into pieces and fried with vetsin or MSG - which some people disapprove of but sometimes I love the flavor- to taste like bacon bits), spring onions, sweet and sour vegetables (carrots) with mock duck. (For extra product info check the pictures. Some products, like the soy meatballs and the mock duck, I only like from one brand).

Sweet and sour sauce - easy style - thai salad vegetables from a jar (atjar taugé or pickled vegetables) tomato puree from a can, ketchup, sweet soy sauce and something to spice things up.

Bellow Bean Bento Box - Bummy! :-p

This bento is a very cute shape. It is very simple - veggie meat balls cut in squares and garden peas in the shell.

Bimple, Bovely and Berry Bice Basting!
